Welcome to Maldon Fields Crematorium

A place to pause and remember, celebrate and mourn, in the most comforting of settings.

Nestled into the landscape and screened with existing woodlands and hedgerows, Maldon Fields Crematorium provides a private, secluded spot for families to hold the dignified service of their choice.

Maldon Fields Crematorium is conveniently located just off the Maldon Road at Woodham Mortimer, opposite St Margaret’s Church. It sits nestled behind a copse, with long views across the countryside and over to the waters of Maldon, making it a tranquil, natural spot, offering a place of peace and seclusion, so important for a funeral.

The gardens and grounds have been designed to resemble a mature parkland. Wide lawns, framed with trees, hedging and beds of flowers and plants join wild flower meadows reaching out to the existing woodlands.

Our building itself subtly matches the local character through the use of rustic red brick, timber boarding and a plain tile roof. Built in the local tradition to match the historic buildings opposite and blend into the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Our Services

Our chapel is at the centre of our landscape with large bay windows overlooking an ornamental garden with wider views of the countryside beyond.

It is light and airy, spacious and comfortable, with seating for 100. The chapel can also be expanded into the lobby allowing a further 100 to comfortably stand. Screens and speakers are fitted to ensure that everyone is included.

An hour is allowed between each funeral (with up to 40 minutes for the actual service) to ensure that every event is personal and individual. An extra hour can be booked for £200.

Our Obitus music system has an almost unlimited library with the facility to record and live stream the service. Many also choose to have a photographic tribute of their loved one set to their favourite music and the chapel is equipped with all the most modern technology to ensure that we can meet the needs of the bereaved. Our staff are on hand to help in every way too.

Yesterday we celebrated the wonderful life of my wife. The wide open spaces and distant fields of mother nature captivate you as you drive on the approach road to the Chapel, which in itself encapsulates and relaxes to relieve the pressure and sadness of losing a loved one. The friendliness of the staff and peace and quiet is the ideal location for celebrating the life of a loved one.

Maldon Fields should be at the top of the list for Crematorium selection and Celebration of life - Highly recommended.

May I thank you all for the Service you provided my late father, Peter in February 2025. I'd also like to thank you for taking care of Dad since, whilst myself and the wider family reached a consensus on where to lay Dad's ashes to rest.

In particular, I'd like to thank Perry in your office, who has been absolutely outstanding both as a representative of Maldon Fields, and a thoroughly decent, empathetic and supportive human being.

I just wanted to thank you so very much for the personal care and attention you have shown to Caroline, Vicky and myself regarding the funeral of our Dad and the committal of our parents ashes today.

Maldon Fields is in a beautiful setting, which offers solace to the bereaved, but it is the personal touch which makes the pain of grieving easier to cope with. You have made a very difficult time easier, your compassion and kindness have been outstanding and I am truly grateful to you.

We had my husbands funeral at Maldon Fields. It was beautiful and just as I hoped it would be. There was absolutely nothing negative I could possibly say.

May I take this opportunity to Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my Husband the best send off possible.

Maldon Fields along with the Funeral Directors were simply amazing.

Dear Nicola, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to you and your team for the thoughtful care you provided during our Dad’s service and in the lead up to it. Your gentle guidance, professionalism, and compassion made an incredibly hard day a little easier for our family. We are incredibly grateful.

Thank you for your assistance with the funeral of my husband Robert Tatlow. A devastating day turned into joyful celebration day, also allowing us to use Paul Kings bier meant so much to myself and our children.

Hello, I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff a Maldon Fields crematorium for so kindly and thoughtfully helping me through the hardest time in my life. A very special thank you to Perry and David

Thank you all for the care and compassion you showed us during Richard’s service. Your kindness and professionalism bought comfort to our family at a very difficult time.

Thank you all for the empathy and professionalism you displayed during the funeral and internment of my late husband.
